Wagyu Zenkyo North America: Your Questions Answered

The countdown is on for the 2026 Wagyu Zenkyo North America, coming to the Washington County Fairgrounds in Brenham, Texas, November 12–15. As the event gets closer and entries continue to come in, we wanted to answer a few of the most common questions and remind everyone what to expect this November.

What is Wagyu Zenkyo North America?

Inspired by Japan’s legendary Zenkyo, often referred to as the “Wagyu Olympics,” Wagyu Zenkyo North America brings together breeders, exhibitors, industry professionals, chefs and Wagyu enthusiasts for a celebration of Wagyu genetics, competition and culture.

The event includes cattle shows, youth competition, carcass ultrasound competition, a steak contest, culinary activities and opportunities to connect with the Wagyu community.

When and where is the event?

Wagyu Zenkyo North America will be held November 12–15, 2026, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Brenham, Texas. Cattle move-in and check-in begins Thursday, with competitions and activities taking place Friday and Saturday.

What cattle are eligible to compete?

Competition includes Black Wagyu, Akaushi, Composite and Percentage cattle, with opportunities to participate in open and youth halter classes, commercial bull and heifer competitions, ultrasound classes and more. Animals must meet the registration, DNA verification and eligibility requirements outlined in the official show rules.

When are entries due?

Livestock entries are now open, with the general entry deadline set for November 1, 2026. Those interested in the carcass contest should note that its entry deadline is earlier—October 1, 2026.

Is Zenkyo only for cattle exhibitors?

Not at all! Zenkyo was created to celebrate the entire Wagyu community. In addition to the show ring, attendees can enjoy the steak contest, culinary activities, association events and plenty of opportunities to meet breeders and others involved in the Wagyu industry.
