When you’ve built a Wagyu program around a bull you believe in, his genetics are one of the most valuable things on your place. Getting those genetics collected, stored, and shipped the right way matters. That’s where this month’s Industry Partner comes in.
Meet Nebraska Bull Service
Nebraska Bull Service, or NBS, is a custom bull collection facility and a division of Vogler Semen Centre. Their promise to breeders is that bulls are collected and housed under the same standards as leading AI sires. The facility sits just outside McCook, Nebraska, right in the heart of beef country.
NBS doesn’t own the bulls or sell the semen. Their whole focus is doing right by your bull and your investment. Their team works to get the most out of every collection, and their lab handles all semen with high quality standards. Once collected, NBS can store your bull’s semen in their warehouse and ship it to you or your customers anywhere in the world.
That worldwide reach is backed by credentials. NBS is CSS certified, meaning they follow the National Association of Animal Breeders‘ strict biosecurity guidelines, which allows bulls to be tested and semen to be sent worldwide. According to the USDA’s current list of approved facilities, NBS has held CSS status since 1984. For Wagyu breeders looking to market genetics beyond their own pasture, that’s a big deal.
A family business behind it
Behind NBS is the Vogler family. Vogler Enterprises is a three-generation family business, and Vogler Semen Centre was founded in 1983. The home facility is located in Ashland, Nebraska, and it offers its own lineup of services. Producers can bring a bull in for a morning appointment and take him home the same day, which works well for smaller orders of 100 to 299 units. Vogler also offers semen storage, shipping across the U.S., and embryo aspiration in partnership with SEK Genetics and Boviteq.
With more than 40 years in the business, the Voglers have built their name on dependable service and knowing their customers personally.
Tune in to The Bull Pen
Want to get to know them better? Brothers Les and Loren Vogler host The Bull Pen, a podcast that started as a way for customers to talk about their bulls and businesses and has grown into a place for broader conversations about the beef industry. It’s worth a listen.
